A formação do B5 vem de infância, os irmãos Eduardo Guimarães (voz e guitarra), Bernardo Guimarães (bateria) e Lucas Leite (guitarra), na faixa dos 15 aos 18 anos, começaram estudar música aos 4 anos e já vinham tocando juntos, quando á seis, sentiram a necessidade de novos músicos para a turma. Em 2000 por indicação de um professor de violão conheceram Léo Lotti (voz e contrabaixo), que por sua vez, convidou o amigo Luis Felipe Bade (guitarra solo). Estava formada a banda, que inicialmente tocava covers de grupos de rock. Com a formação definida, a banda começa a fazer vários shows em festas e eventos em Petrópolis, cidade onde moram influênciados por bandas dos anos 70 até os dias atuais. A exposição agropecuária foi o empurrão que precisavam, o B5 se apresentou em cinco edições, sendo que nas três últimas no palco principal. A exposição foi uma ótima vitrine, pois Petrópolis tem muitas bandas de rock mas poucos lugares para tocar. "Há eventos alternativos geralmente realizados na casa de alguém", diz Edu. No ano de 2002, assinam contrato com a gravadora Sony Music e lançam seu primeiro CD, auto-intitulado, de nome "B5", onde a banda trata de temas adolescentes como escola, namoro, sexo, futebol e vídeo-game. A partir daí o trabalho toma projeção nacional e o B5 torna-se uma das bandas revelação do pop rock brasileiro. "Nesse álbum participamos da produção. É um CD mais autoral, com sete composições nossas, enquanto no primeiro eram somente duas", destaca Léo. Segundo trabalho do quinteto que está na faixa dos 16 anos. Apesar da pouca idade, os garotos vão buscar influências no rock clássico setentista, além de elementos atuais, injetando peso nas guitarras e demonstrando uma alta dose de maturidade sonora. Em 2005 o grupo lançou o seu segundo CD, intitulado "Novo". A música "Só Mais Uma Vez" esta presente na trilha sonora da novela "Malhação" no álbum Malhação Nacional 2005. Em 2005, a banda abriu dois shows internacionais, Simple Plan e Hanson. A banda teve seu fim no inicio de 2009, apesar de que a banda já estivesse com o 3º cd quase pronto, os contratos que estavam para fechar acabaram não sendo fechados e após esse episódio, foi havendo um afastamento gradual, assim os integrantes foram traçando caminhos diferentes, ocasionando na separação do grupo. Leonardo Lotti se formou em Direito na Universidade Católica de Petrópolis, atualmente dá aulas de inglês no curso FISK de Petrópolis e toca na banda local chamada Sunset Rock. Eduardo, Lucas e Bernardo se casaram. E Luis Felipe continua trabalhando como músico em gravações e acompanhando a cantora Jullie em sua turnê. Além disso, ele também trabalha em produção musical, fazendo gravações e mixagens. Lucas se formou em Hotelaria e trabalhou muitos anos em hotéis de grande porte no Rio de Janeiro, e atualmente é dono do 021 Hostel, localizado também no Rio de Janeiro no bairro Botafogo.
