Astromato veio de Campinas, SP, fazia roque em português desde 1998 e lançou seu primeiro disco, “Melodias de uma estrela falsa” (1999) pelo midsummer madness. A banda começou mesmo em 1994, época do 1º JUNTATRIBO, festival independente que agitou a UNICAMP e o Brasil durante 3 dias naquele ano. O Weed (primeiro nome do Astromado) era uma típica guitar band brasileira daquela época: derivação dos ídolos, inglês abrasileirado e umas poucas fitas gravadas. Dai Pedro, um dos 3 fundadores (os outros dois são Armando e Fabrício) teve de morar fora do Brasil por 9 meses, voltando em 1998 com, ora veja, várias letras e músicas em português! Num churrasco descobriram que cantar em português mas continuar fazendo roque indie-saxão seria a melhor escolha, fumaram a Weed e fizeram crescer o Astromato. Não demorou muito para gravarem a primeira fita, intitulada “Astromato” que traz as versões originais para Cadeia Alimentar, No Macio, no gostoso, Canção do Adolescente, Através da Chuva e Só não sabe disso.  O CD traz 17 músicas e foi todo feito pela banda usando recursos e habilidades já usadas em prol de outras bandas locais. Fabrício (baixo e voz) fez a capa; Armando (guitarra e voz) foi técnico de estúdio e Pedro (guitarra e voz) tirou algumas das fotos que estão no encarte. Melodias… deixa clara a influência de Jesus & Mary Chain quando entra a gravação definitiva de No Macio No Gostoso com sua bateria eletrônica utilizada com uma simplicidade eficiente, define o bom gosto e a leveza das letras. Astromato came from Campinas, SP, was castled in Portuguese since 1998 and released their first album, "Melodies of a false Star" (1999) by midsummer madness. The band really started in 1994, when the 1st JUNTATRIBO, independent festival that shook the UNICAMP and Brazil for 3 days in that year. The Weed (first name Astromado) was a typical Brazilian guitar band from that era: Derivation of idols, abrasileirado English and a few tapes. Dai Pedro, one of the 3 founders (the other two are Armando and Fabricio) had to live outside of Brazil for 9 months, returning in 1998, now look at several music and lyrics in Portuguese! A barbecue discovered that singing in Portuguese but keep doing indie rock-Saxon would be the best choice, smoked Weed and did grow Astromato. It took forever to record the first tape, titled "Astromato" that brings the original versions for Food Chain, The Soft in tasty Song Adolescents, Through the Rain and I just do not know it. The CD features 17 songs and it was all done by the band using resources and skills already used in support of other local bands. Fabrizio (bass and vocals) made ​​the cover; Armando (guitar and vocals) was studio technician and Peter (guitar and voice) took some of the photos that are in the booklet.
