O Bloco-afro Ara Ketu ou Povo de Ketu foi fundado em 1981 por moradores do subúrbio ferroviário de Periperi de Salvador na Bahia.1 O bloco desfilou pela primeira vez em 1981 no qual homenageou o rei caçador, Oxóssi que é o orixá protetor do Ara Ketu. Por isso o símbolo do bloco é o ofá e as cores são azul e branco. Assemelhante aos outros blocos afros como Ilê Aiyê e Olodum, o bloco Afro Ara Ketu desenvolvia também um trabalho social voltado para a sua comunidade. Embora que durante os anos oitenta os blocos afros ficaram quase invisiveis para o grande público no Brasil, as suas músicas foram interpretadas por outros artistas como Banda Reflexu's e Margareth Menezes entre outras. Por Exemplo a musica 'Uma História de Fã' gravada no primeiro LP do Ara Ketu em 1987, foi lançada no CD de Margareth Menezes o ano depois tendo maior succeso no Brasil e no exterior. Constituído inicialmente por um bloco de percussão, dançarinos e associados o “Ara” como é mais conhecido incorporou instrumentos de sopro, bateria e teclado para se reformular. O Ara Ketu foi um dos primeiros blocos a mudar de estilo musical saindo da estética afro para o ritmos mestiços como o Pagode e o Axé no ano de 1990. Em 1987 lançaram seu álbum de estreia, pela gravadora Continental. Em 1994 foram para a gravadora Columbia, e em novembro do mesmo ano lançaram o álbum Bom Demais. Em 1998 lançaram o álbum Ao Vivo, que foi certificado diamante. Em 2007, Tatau, vocalista da banda, se desligou do grupo para seguir carreira solo e fui substituito pela cantora Larissa Luz, até junho de 2012, quando o antigo vocalista Tatau retornou ao comando da banda. Eurípedes Waldick Soriano foi um cantor e compositor brasileiro, ícone da música classificada como brega. Nascido no povoado de Brejinho das Ametistas, em Caetité, Bahia, filho de Manuel Sebastião Soriano, comerciante de ametistas no distrito de Brejinho das Ametistas. Fato marcante de sua infância foi o abandono do lar pela mãe, Eudóxia Evangelista Garcia, a quem era muito apegado. Em Caetité viveu sua juventude, sempre boêmia, até um incidente num clube local, que o fez buscar o destino fora da cidade. Desde muito novo era um inveterado namorador e aventureiro e, seguindo o caminho de muitos sertanejos, foi tentar a vida em São Paulo. Antes de ingressar na carreira artística, trabalhou como lavrador, engraxate e garimpeiro. Apesar das dificuldades, conseguiu se tornar conhecido nos anos 50 com a música "Quem és tu?". Ele se destacava por suas canções sobre dor-de-cotovelo e seu visual revolucionário para a época: sempre usava roupas negras e óculos escuros. Seus maiores sucessos foram "Tortura de amor" e "Eu não sou cachorro não". Também se tornaram conhecidas outras músicas suas, tais como "Paixão de um Homem", "A Carta", "A Dama de Vermelho", "Se Eu Morresse Amanhã" e "Perfume de Gardênia". Waldick teve diagnosticado um câncer de próstata em 2006. Em 2 de julho de 2008 foi divulgado que seu estado de saúde era grave, pois já ocorrera metástase da doença. Busta Rhymes, nome artístico de Trevor Tahiem Smith Jr., (Brooklyn, Nova York, 20 de maio de 1972), é um músico de hip hop e ator americano de ascendência jamaicana. Chuck D do Public Enemy deu a ele o apelido Busta Rhymes em homenagem ao wide receiver da NFL George "Buster" Rhymes. Ele é mais conhecido por sua técnica habilidosa de fazer rap, que envolve cantar em um ritmo muito rápido, e até hoje ele recebeu onze nomeações para o Grammy por seu trabalho musical.
