Originalmente conhecido como Legacy, o Testament é um dos fundadores do então chamado movimento Thrash da Bay-Area de meados dos anos 80. No início foi criticada por assemelhar-se muito ao Metallica mas mesmo assim o grupo se destacou na cena bay area. Formada em 1983 pelos guitarristas Eric Peterson e Derrick Ramirez e pelo baterista Louie Clemente originalmente com o nome de The Legacy. Juntaram-se à banda o baixista Greg Christian, e o vocalista Steve Souza. Derrick Ramirez foi substituído por Alex Skolnick, que estudou guitarra com o lendário guitarrista Joe Satriani. Em 1984 a banda lança uma demo intitulada First Strike is Deadly com Steve Souza nos vocais. Após a a saída de Steve Souza para juntar-se ao Exodus a banda incorporou o vocalista Chuck Billy. Em 1987 enquanto gravava seu primeiro álbum em Ithaca, Nova Iorque a banda foi forçada a mudar seu nome para Testament (nome dado por Billy Milano, vocalista da banda de hardcore M.O.D. e também da banda crossover S.O.D.), pois outra banda tinha os direitos autorais do nome The Legacy. O primeiro álbum lançado pela banda em 1987 foi o “The Legacy” pela Megaforce Records. Este é considerado até hoje um álbum clássico pelos amantes do thrash metal. Nesta época o Testament obteve fama imediata nos círculos de thrash metal e chegou a ser comparado com seus companheiros do Metallica. A banda melhorou sua divulgação embarcando em uma turnê pelos Estados Unidos e pela Europa com o Anthrax, que na época estava fazendo a divulgação do álbum “Among the Living”. O EP “Live at Eindhoven” foi gravado nesta turnê no “Dynamo Festival” na Holanda. Após outra turnê mundial a banda entrou em estúdio para gravar o álbum “Practice What You Preach”. Lançado em 1989, este álbum tem letras que se focam mais em assuntos como política e corrupção em vez de falar de temas ocultos e obscuros como nos dois primeiros álbuns. Na turnê deste álbum a banda compartilhou o palco com as bandas Savatage e Wrathchild America. Este álbum foi bastante popular na época alcançando a marca de 400.000 cópias vendidas e acabou sendo notado pela MTV norte-americana que passava bastante o videoclipe da faixa-título em um programa chamado Headbangers Ball. Em 1990 foi lançado o “Souls of Black” e nesta mesma época a banda participou do festival “Clash Of The Titans” ao lado de Slayer, Megadeth e Suicidal Tendencies. Em 1991 foi lançado o vídeo “Seen Beetween the Lines”. No álbum “Demonic”, de 1997, o Testament ganha uma sonoridade bem mais próxima do death metal. Neste álbum Eric Peterson toca ambas as guitarras, Derrick Ramirez volta à banda para tocar baixo e Gene Hoglan entra para tocar bateria. Este álbum é considerado por muitos o mais pesado de toda a carreira da banda. “Signs Of Chaos”, uma coletânea com mais duas faixas bônus, foi lançada em 1997. Em maio de 2005, foi anunciado que o Testament faria uma turnê de reunião apenas na Europa com a formação original contando com Chuck Billy, Eric Peterson, Alex Skolnick e Greg Christian, com a bateria sendo dividida entre John Tempesta e Louie Clemente. Louie tocava as músicas mais antigas (segundo o próprio, sua técnica teria declinado ao longo destes anos longe dos palcos) e John tocava o restante das músicas. Derrick Ramirez was replaced by Alex Skolnick, who studied guitar with the legendary guitarist Joe Satriani. In 1984 the band released a demo titled First Strike is Deadly Steve Souza on vocals. In 1987 while recording their first album in Ithaca, New York the band was forced to change its name to Testament (name given by Billy Milano, singer of the hardcore band MOD and also SOD crossover band) because another band with copyrights name the Legacy. The first album released by the band in 1987 was the "The Legacy" by Megaforce Records. This is considered today a classic album by thrash metal lovers. At this time the Testament got instant fame in the circles of thrash metal and became equated with his fellow Metallica. This album Eric Peterson plays both guitars, Derrick Ramirez back in the band to play bass and Gene Hoglan comes to play drums. This album is considered by many the heaviest of all the band's career. "Signs Of Chaos", a collection with two bonus tracks, was released in 1997. In May 2005, it was announced that Testament would make a reunion tour in Europe only with the original line counting with Chuck Billy, Eric Peterson, Alex Skolnick and Greg Christian, with the battery being divided between John Tempesta and Louie Clemente. Louie played older songs (according to himself, his technique would have declined over the years away from the stage) and John played the rest of the songs. Limp Bizkit é uma banda americana de Nu Metal, formada no ano de 1994, na Flórida. Seu som pode ser definido como uma mescla de hip-hop, punk e metal. Juntamente com o Korn , recebem os créditos da criação e popularização do Nu metal. Seus álbuns já venderam mais de 30 milhões de cópias pelo mundo. Contrário à crença popular, o nome Limp Bizkit não foi escolhido por causa do jogo limp biscuit. Foi escolhido pela maneira que um amigo da banda descrevia sua mente após se drogar. A banda foi formada em 1994 por Fred Durst, Sam Rivers, Jon Otto e Rob Waters. Este último foi logo trocado por Wes Borland. Nessa época eles se tornaram amigos da banda de rap House of Pain, que incluia o DJ Lethal. Após o fim do House of Pain, o DJ se uniu a banda. Fred Durst, vocalista, era o tatuador dos integrantes da banda Korn, e por ela foram lançados. Eles também possuiam uma fita com quatro demos, Armpit, Blind, Phat Groove e Shove, e era entitulada Mental Aquaduct Records Demo, que foi entregue ao produtor Ross Robinson. Tal fita foi gravada e lançada em 1995.
