A banda Autoramas surgiu em 1997. Gabriel Thomaz (guitarrista e vocalista) alcançou reconhecimento como compositor de hits das bandas Raimundos e Ultraje À Rigor e com sua antiga banda Little Quail & The Mad Birds. Depois do fim de LQATMB, Gabriel chegou ao Rio e chamou seus amigos Bacalhau (baterista) e Simone do Vale (baixista) para fazer um som batizado em bom português como “Rock para Dançar”, uma mistura da Surf Music dos anos 60, com a New Wave dos anos 80, mais influências da Jovem Guarda, e a energia do Punk Rock com guitarras com timbres únicos, baixo distorcido e batidas dançantes. Em 2000 gravaram o primeiro disco: “Stress,Depressão & Síndrome do Pânico”, produzido por Carlo Bartolini e lançado pela Astronauta/Universal. Desse álbum saíram músicas como “Fale Mal de Mim” e “Carinha Triste” que foram veiculadas pelas rádios do Brasil inteiro e pela MTV, rendendo-lhes assim, uma turnê do Rio Grande do Sul ao Amapá, com mais de 80 shows, incluindo a apresentação no Rock In Rio III. O seu segundo álbum, “Vida Real”, foi lançado no fim de 2001. Depois de uma nova turnê pelo Brasil tocando em 11 estados, partiram para sua primeira turnê internacional no Japão, juntamente com a grande banda local Guitar Wolf. Nesta turnê passaram por cinco cidades japonesas e lançaram um disco para o mercado japonês, batizado de “Full Speed Ahead”. O ano de 2003 marcou o lançamento do terceiro álbum “Nada Pode Parar os Autoramas”, pela Monstro Discos. Esse disco ganhou os prêmios London Burning de Música Independente nas categorias melhor banda e melhor disco de 2003 e rendeu convites para os principais festivais no Brasil. Em 2004, os Autoramas partem para sua segunda turnê internacional, na Argentina e Uruguai, tocando em 3 cidades: Montevideo, Buenos Aires e Rosario; seguida pela terceira turnê internacional, com 4 shows no Chile e Argentina, já com a entrada da nova baixista, Selma Vieira. Com essa turnê os Autoramas atingem a marca de 96 shows nesse ano, incluindo shows em 21 estados brasileiros. E é finalizado o videoclip da música “Você Sabe”, que ganhou alta rotação na MTV e recebeu três prêmios no VMB de 2005. Em maio de 2007, após turnês de shows na Europa, a banda lançou seu quarto disco, Teletransporte, pela gravadora Mondo 77. Em 2008, os Autoramas receberam uma nova integrante no lugar de Selma: a carioca Flávia Couri. No fim de 2009 foi lançado o cd/dvd Autoramas - MTV Apresenta Autoramas Desplugado. The Autoramas band emerged in 1997. Gabriel Thomaz (guitarist and vocalist) has achieved recognition as a composer of hits of Raimundos and Outrage At Rigor bands and with his former band Little Quail & The Mad Birds. After the end of LQATMB, Gabriel arrived in Rio and called his friends Bacalhau (drums) and Simone Valley (bass) to make a sound baptized in good Portuguese as "Rock to Dance," a mixture of Surf Music of the 60s, with New Wave '80s, most influences the Young Guard, and the energy of punk rock with guitars with unique sounds, distorted bass and danceable beats. In 2000 they recorded their first album: "Stress, Depression & Panic Disorder", produced by Carlo Bartolini and released by Astronaut / Universal. That album came out songs like "Speak evil of Me" and "Smilie Sad" that were broadcast by radio stations from all over Brazil and the MTV, earning them well, a tour of Rio Grande do Sul to Amapá, with over 80 shows, including presentation at Rock In Rio III. Their second album, "Real Life" was released in late 2001. After a new tour in Brazil playing in 11 states, they departed for their first international tour in Japan, along with great local band Guitar Wolf. This tour went through five Japanese cities and launched a drive for the Japanese market, called "Full Speed Ahead". The year 2003 marked the release of their third album "Nothing Can Stop the Autoramas" by Monstro Discos. This album won the London Burning of Independent Music Awards in the categories best band and best album of 2003 and earned invitations to major festivals in Brazil. In 2004, Autoramas depart for his second international tour in Argentina and Uruguay, playing in three cities: Montevideo, Buenos Aires and Rosario; then the third international tour with four concerts in Chile and Argentina, as with the entry of new bass player, Selma Vieira. With this tour the Autoramas reach the mark of 96 shows this year, including concerts in 21 states. Finally, it was the videoclip of the song "You Know," which earned heavy rotation on MTV and received three awards in the 2005 VMB In May 2007, after touring shows in Europe, the band released their fourth album, Teleport, by label Mondo 77.
