Big Youth, stage name Manley Augustus Buchanan, is a reggae deejay, notorious for his work in the 1970s. Before joining musical career, was specialized in diesel vehicle mechanic at Kingston's Sheraton Hotel, when he developed his first hits as he worked, and was coined the nickname "Big Youth" by his colleagues. Nio beginning his performance with dances, initially influenced by U-Roy, where he had contact with the sound system in 1970 as resident DJ, attracted the attention of producers of Kingston.
