Duran Duran é uma banda de rock inglesa, formada em 1978. É uma das bandas mais importantes da explosão new romantic no começo da década de 80s e ainda muito cultuada por fãs de todo o mundo. Inspirado na cena post-punk e disco do final dos anos 70, os amigos de escola Nick Rhodes (teclados) e John Taylor (guitarra naquela época, posteriormente baixo) formaram uma banda em 1978. Convidaram Simon Colley (baixo e clarinete) e Stephen Duffy (vocal) para completar aquele que seria o Duran Duran - nome que remete ao vilão Dr. Durand Durand, do filme de ficção científica Barbarella (de Roger Vadim). Os primeiros concertos do Duran Duran foram realizados na cidade de Birmingham, com auxílio de uma bateria eletrônica. Duffy e Colley deixaram o grupo pouco mais de um ano depois. Andy Wickett assumiu os vocais e Roger Taylor também ingressou como baterista da banda. Ainda em 1979, Wickett saiu do grupo. Depois de gravarem uma demo, os membros do Duran Duran colocaram um anúncio em um jornal, na busca de um guitarrista para o grupo. Através disso, contrataram Andy Taylor. Faltava apenas um vocalista. Após rápidas passagens de alguns vocalistas, Simon Le Bon, da banda punk Dog Days, foi apresentado por sua namorada, uma garçonete de um bar de Birmingham, na qual o Duran Duran costumava tocar. Ele acabou assumindo os vocais do Duran Duran. No final de 1980, o Duran Duran já era um grupo conhecido do circuito new romantic britânico. A banda assinou um contrato com a gravadora EMI, que lançou em 1981 “Planet Earth”, primeiro compacto do grupo. O single alcançou um grande sucesso e chegou a posição 12 da parada musical britânica. No início de 1986, Roger Taylor deixou o Duran Duran, seguido meses depois por Andy Taylor. Ainda assim, como trio, o grupo lançou o LP “Notorious”, último álbum de sucesso da banda. Destaque para a faixa-título e para “A Matter Of Felling”, que embora não seja uma das canções mais populares do Duran no mundo, ela fez muito sucesso nas paradas musicais brasileira. Em janeiro de 1988, o Duran Duran se apresentaram em São Paulo e Rio, durante o Festival Hollywood Rock. Mas o sucesso comercial da banda continuava, mesmo com o lançamento do álbum “Big Thing”, de 1988, e com a canção “I Don’t Want Your Love” alcançando um Top 10. No ano seguinte, foi lançado “Liberty”, sem sucesso. Naquela época, o guitarrista Warren Cuccurullo (que tocava como músico de apoio para a banda) foi integrado ao Duran Duran. Em 1993, foi lançado o álbum “Duran Duran”, que ficou conhecido como “The Wedding Album” por causa das fotos de casamentos dos pais dos integrantes do grupo. Deste disco, “Ordinary World” e “Come Undone” levaram a banda ao Top 10 britânico e estadunidense. Em 1995, foi lançado “Thank You”, álbum contendo apenas covers e que teve relativo sucesso comercial. O disco ainda contou com a participação do ex-integrante Roger Taylor em duas canções (“Watching The Detectives”, de Elvis Costello, e “Perfect Day”, de Lou Reed). Em 1997, foi lançado “Medazzaland”. Ainda naquele ano, John Taylor anunciava que estava deixando a banda. No ano seguinte, foi lançado “Essential Duran Duran: Night Versions”, álbum que contém remixes até então inéditos e a coletânea “Greatest”. Duran Duran are an English rock band formed in 1978. It is one of the most important bands of the new romantic explosion in the early 80s decade and still very worshiped by fans all over the world. Inspired by post-punk scene and the end of the disk 70, the school friends Nick Rhodes (keyboards) and John Taylor (guitar at the time, later bass) formed a band in 1978. They invited Simon Colley (bass and clarinet) and Stephen Duffy (vocals) to complete what would be the Duran Duran - name that refers to the villain Dr. Durand Durand, the science fiction film Barbarella (Roger Vadim). The first concerts of Duran Duran were carried out in Birmingham with the aid of a drum machine. Duffy and Colley left the group just over a year later. Andy Wickett took over the vocals and Roger Taylor also joined as drummer. Also in 1979 Wickett left the group. After recording a demo, members of Duran Duran put an ad in a newspaper, seeking a guitarist for the group. Through this, they hired Andy Taylor. There was only a singer. After fast passages of some singers, Simon Le Bon, the punk band Dog Days, he was presented by his girlfriend, a waitress in a Birmingham bar, in which Duran Duran used to play. He ended up taking the vocals of Duran Duran. In late 1980, Duran Duran was already a known group of new British romantic circuit. The band signed a contract with record label EMI, which released in 1981 "Planet Earth", first single of the group. The single reached a great success and reached position 12 of the British music chart. In early 1986, Roger Taylor left Duran Duran, followed months later by Andy Taylor. Still, as a trio, the group released the album "Notorious", last hit album of the band. Especially the title track and "A Matter Of Felling", which although not one of the most popular songs of Duran in the world, she was very successful in Brazilian music charts. Roqueiro precoce, aos 12 anos tocava com os Cave Man, banda de cover dos Beatles. Ao longo dos anos de 1970, emprestaria sua guitarra ao Albatroz, Veludo Elétrico, Veludo e Vímana, no qual tocou com o então flautista Ritchie e o baterista Lobão. Depois de um tempo como músico free-lancer, estreou carreira solo, com o nome de Luís Maurício, lançando um compacto. Em 1981, já como Lulu Santos, lançou o compacto com “Tesouros da Juventude”, parceria com o jornalista e produtor Nelson Motta. Em 1982, lançou seu LP de estréia, “Tempos Modernos”, cuja faixa-título se tornaria seu primeiro grande sucesso. Seguiriam-se os LPs “O Ritmo do Momento” (1983), “Tudo Azul” (1984), “Normal” (1985), “Lulu” (1986) e “Toda Forma de Amor” (1988), que lhe garantiram uma invejável quantidade de sucessos: “Um Certo Alguém”, “Como Uma Onda”, “Tão Bem”, “O Último Romântico”, “Casa” e “A Cura”. Depois de três LPs sem a mesma repercussão de antes – “Popsambalanço e Outras Levadas” (1989), “Honolulu” (1990) e “Mondo Cane” (1992) –, Lulu Santos fez as pazes com o sucesso ao enveredar pela disco-dance nos LPs “Assim Caminha a Humanidade”, “Eu e Memê, Memê e Eu” (1995, com o produtor Marcelo “Memê” Mansur) e “Anticiclone Tropical” (1996). Uma parada para a experimentação eletrônica – o disco “Liga Lá”, de 1997 – e o músico voltou ao formato radiofônico com “Calendário” (1999), puxado pela música “Fogo de Palha”. Depois de “Lulu Acústico” (2000 – BMG), álbum que vendeu 700 mil cópias, cansado do violão, Lulu retorna à guitarra e lança seu 17º disco, “Programa”, em 2002. O disco marca a reestréia da banda Paralamas do Sucesso após o acidente com Herbert Vianna (de ultraleve, em fevereiro de 2001), que tocou guitarra na faixa 4 do 5, referência à data de aniversário de Herbert e do solista, ambos de 4 de maio. Em 2003, Lulu traz o álbum “Bugalu” (Sony BMG). Dentre as várias canções deste CD está “Já é!”, que faz parte da trilha sonora da novela global “Agora é Que São Elas”. O DVD de Lulu vem em 2004, juntamente com o CD homônimo: “MTV Ao Vivo”. Neste trabalho, que lhe rendeu 800 mil cópias vendidas, encontram-se os maiores sucessos da carreira do cantor e compositor, em versões acústicas de seus maiores sucessos gravadas para o programa de televisão MTV Ao Vivo. A banda espanhola Dark Moor foi formada no ano de 1993 pelos guitarristas Enrik García e Javier Rubio, e após algumas idas e vindas e a gravação de uma série de demos, a formação do grupo se estabiliza com Elisa Martín, Albert Maroto, Enrik García, Anan Kaddouri e Jorge Saez. A banda decide então adicionar um tecladista, cargo que passa a ser ocupado por Roberto Peña. A banda também participou do álbum The Keepers of Jericho, de tributo à banda alemã de power metal Helloween. Depois que lançou Shadowland (1999), ganhando grande reconhecimento por onde passou, eles fazem uma turnê pela Espanha com os fodáticos do Demons & Wizards (Hansi Kürsch e Jon Schaffer), ganhando uma legião de fans ainda maior. Esse álbum mostra mais maturidade dos integrantes e garantindo Elisa como uma referencia para vocalistas de metal que não faz o lírico. Já com o mercado sólido na Espanha, Japão e até mesmo no Brasil. Eles lançam Beyond The Sea. Um álbum que se destaca grande qualidade e técnica dos integrantes da banda, principalmente Alfred Romero que estava finalmente parando de imitar Elisa. Mostrando que o álbum é um prato cheio de Pomposas canções. Com a saída de Javier Rúbio, parece que o barco ia naufragar, assim diziam alguns. Para dar um exemplo da importancia do cara para banda, vamos dizer que ele era como o Kiko Loureiro para o Angra. Mas essas pessoas não esperavam que no inicio de 2007 um novo Dark Moor estaria varrendo quarterões com um dos melhores álbuns do ano. Tarot, é um álbum moderno, poderoso e diferente. Bem equilibrado e equalizado, mostra que Enrike Gárcia era o monstro por trás de tudo. O cara simplesmente mudou de nível nas guitarras! A Perfect Circle é um grupo americano formado em 1999 na Califórnia, EUA, por Billy Howerdel e o vocalista da banda Tool, Maynard James Keenan. A formação original da banda também incluia Paz Lenchantin no baixo, Troy Van Leeuwen na guitarra e Tim Alexander na bateria. O último line-up da banda consistia em Jeordie White (conhecido como Twiggy Ramirez, baixista de longa data da banda do Marilyn Manson), o guitarrista original da banda Smashing Pumpkins, James Iha e o baterista Josh Freese.
