Banda de rock formada em 1984 em Porto Alegre por colegas da faculdade de arquitetura: Humberto Gessinger, voz e guitarra, Carlos Maltz, bateria, e Marcelo Pitz, baixo. No ano seguinte começaram a tocar em cidades pequenas do Rio Grande do Sul e acabaram incluídos em uma coletânea de rock gaúcho produzida pela gravadora BMG. Uma das faixas da coletânea, "Sopa de Letrinhas", se tornou um sucesso e incentivou a gravadora a lançar um LP dos Engenheiros. A banda ficou conhecida nacionalmente a partir do segundo disco, "A Revolta dos Dândis", de 1987, que emplacou, entre outras músicas, "Infinita Highway", executada exaustivamente pelas rádios. A essa altura, Marcelo Pitz já havia deixado a banda e Humberto tinha assumido o baixo, e Augusto Licks havia entrado para a banda como guitarrista. Outros sucessos da banda foram "Ouça o que Eu Digo, Não Ouça Ninguém", "Somos Quem Podemos Ser", "Nau à Deriva", "O Papa É Pop", "Era um Garoto..." e "Refrão de Bolero". Na década de 90 o grupo enveredou por outras searas musicais, gravando o semi-acústico "Filmes de Guerra, Canções de Amor" na Sala Cecília Meireles, no Rio de Janeiro, com arranjos de Wagner Tiso e participação da Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira. Em 1993 a saída do guitarrista Augusto Licks gerou transtornos para a banda que passaram por questões musicais e extra-musicais, como uma discussão em torno do nome Engenheiros do Hawaii. The following year began playing in small of Rio Grande do Sul cities and eventually included in a gaucho rock collection produced by BMG. A collection of bands, "alphabet soup" became a success and encouraged the label to release an LP of Engineers. The band became known nationally from the second album, "The Revolt of the Dandies", 1987 spawned, among other songs, "Endless Highway", performed extensively by radio. At this point, Marcelo Pitz had already left the band and Humberto had taken down, and Augusto Licks had joined the band as a guitarist. Other hits of the band were "Listen to what I mean, Hear No," "We Are Who We Be", "Nau Drift," "The Pope is Pop," "He was a Boy ..." and "Chorus of Bolero ". In the 90s the group embarked on other musical crops, recording the semi-acoustic "Movies War, Love Songs" at the Sala Cecilia Meireles, in Rio de Janeiro, with Wagner Tiso arrangements and participation of the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra. In 1993 the departure of guitarist Augusto Licks generated upsets the band went through musical and extra-musical issues, such as a discussion about the Hawaii of Engineers name. As origens do Nazareth remontam a 1961, ano em que Pete Agnew fundou o "The Shadettes". A primeira formação deste grupo foi: Pete Agnew (guitarra e vocal), Brian 'Pye' Brady (guitarra), Alfie Murray (guitarra), Alan Fraser (bateria) e Bobby Spence (baixo). O grupo ganhou consistência, nos anos de 1964 e 1965, com a chegada de Darrel Sweet e Dan McCafferty. Em 1968, dois acontecimentos muito importantes na história da banda: o ingresso do lendário guitarrista Manny Charlton e a mudança do nome para Nazareth. Até então o grupo limitava-se a fazer covers; porém, com Manny integrado ao grupo, os escoceses passaram a compor material próprio. Após a mudança para Londres, lançaram seu primeiro disco, chamado Nazareth, em 1971. Em 1972 chamaram a atenção no mundo da música com o seu segundo álbum - Exercises -, o trabalho mais leve já realizado pela banda. Em 1973, a banda procurava por um produtor para seu próximo álbum, que haveria de ter um som bem mais pesado que o anterior. A escolha não poderia ter sido melhor: Roger Glover. Os dois álbuns que se seguiram, Loud 'N' Proud e Rampant, também foram produzidos por Glover, mas o sucesso foi um pouco menor. O mais famoso álbum do Nazareth, Hair of the Dog, foi produzido pela própria banda e surgiu em 1975, sendo um marco para o Rock dos anos 70. Sua interpretação da música dos Everly Brothers "Love Hurts" resultou em disco de platina nos Estados Unidos e teve sucesso similar no Reino Unido. A este se seguiram uma série de álbuns que estão no Top 100 do Billboard 200. Em 1978, o guitarrista Zal Cleminson (Sensational Alex Harvey Band) juntou-se ao grupo, gravando apenas dois álbuns com o Nazareth. Zal, todavia, deixou sua marca: seu dueto com Manny Charlton no álbum No Mean City é até hoje lembrado como um dos melhores trabalhos com guitarras já realizados em estúdio. Zal foi substituído por Billy Rankin, na época com apenas 19 anos. Nos anos 80, o sucesso da banda já não era mais o mesmo, mas eles continuaram na estrada, procurando novos caminhos para o grupo. Em 1981 gravaram o festejado "Snaz", álbum originado de um show realizado pelos escoceses em Vancouver, Canadá, no dia 13 de maio daquele ano. O álbum "2XS", de 1982, trouxe as faixas "Love Leads To Madness" e "Dream On", que marcaram o retorno do Nazareth às rádios do mundo inteiro. A primeira delas, inclusive, foi um grande sucesso da trilha sonora da novela global "Sol de Verão". Porém, nos dois álbuns seguintes (Sound Elixir e The Catch), a banda recebeu fortes críticas, sendo acusada de deixar um pouco de lado o rock and roll e se dedicar a um som mais pop. A balada "Where Are You Now?" foi o único hit deste período conturbado. Billy saiu da banda em 1983 e o Nazareth voltou, assim, ao seu quarteto original. O álbum Cinema (1986) trouxe de volta ao repertório da banda o seu rock competente, mas isso não foi suficiente para resgatar o grande sucesso dos anos 70. Em 2002 lançaram seu primeiro DVD gravado ao vivo - Homecoming - onde os talentosos músicos da banda mostram plena forma. Em 4 de agosto de 2006, mais um duro golpe para os escoceses: faleceu John Locke, ex-tecladista da banda, aos 62 anos, vítima de câncer. Restart é uma banda brasileira de teen pop criada em São Paulo em agosto de 2008. A banda tem como principais canções Recomeçar, Vou Cantar, Levo Comigo e Amanhecer no Teu Olhar. O MySpace oficial da banda conseguiu mais de 2 milhões de acessos apenas em 2009, sendo a internet o principal meio de divulgações de suas músicas. Fundada em agosto de 2008 por quatro estudantes, Pedro Lanza, Pedro Lucas, Koba e Thomas, a banda Restart alcançou rapidamente alta popularidade e começou a fazer shows no Brasil. Seus integrantes tornaram-se nacionalmente conhecidos por serem um dos pioneiros no uso de roupas coloridas, principalmente calças, que fazem parte da vestimenta de músicos de música colorida. Além de apresentações em todo o país, a banda participou de uma edição do Casseta & Planeta, Urgente! que foi ao ar na Rede Globo em 10 de agosto de 2010. Seu primeiro disco foi lançado em novembro de 2009, intitulado Restart. Ele trouxe três singles: Recomeçar, Levo Comigo e Pra Você Lembrar. A avaliação da crítica foi mediana, tendo recebido 3/5 estrelas do CanalPop e 3.5/5 da Allmusic. O álbum Restart vendeu mais de 50 mil cópias, sendo certificado com disco de ouro e, posteriormente, com disco de platina, recebido no palco do programa Domingão do Faustão, da Rede Globo. Restart is a Brazilian teen pop band created in São Paulo in August 2008. The band's main Start songs, I sing, I take with me and sunrises in Your Look. The official MySpace managed over 2 million hits in 2009 alone, the Internet being the primary means of disclosures of your music. Founded in August 2008 by four students, Peter Lanza, Peter Lucas, Koba and Thomas, the Restart band quickly achieved high popularity and started doing shows in Brazil. Its members have become nationally known for being a pioneer in the use of colored clothes, especially pants, which are part of the dress colorful music musicians. In addition to presentations throughout the country, the band participated in an edition of Casseta & Planet, Urgent! which aired on Globo on 10 August 2010.
