Os Manic Street Preachers são uma banda formada no País de Gales por volta do ano de 1989 em Blackwood. Os amigos de escola James Dean Bradfield (vocais e guitarras), Nicky Wire (baixo) e Sean Moore (bateria) decidiram pelo nome de Betty Blue (titulo em inglês do filme 37°2 le matin de Jean-Jacques Beineix estrelado por Béatrice Dalle no papel de Betty.), mas antes mesmo de lançar o primeiro single, o trio adotou Manic Street Preachers. A capa do primeiro single Suicide Alley, bancado pela banda, foi desenhada pelo guitarrista Richey James, que logo depois se tornou membro do grupo. As influências estavam evidentes, a capa foi inspirada no primeiro álbum do Clash. O som tinha influências do punk e hard rock. O segundo single, New Art Riot, foi lançado em 1990. As composições do Manic tinham como principais temas a política e a crítica social. O público se interessava e crescia a cada apresentação. Chamados de grupo socialista punk retro, o Manic vendia camisetas relacionadas ao socialismo. O início do grupo foi cheio de polêmicas. Eles diziam que lançariam um único CD para vender 16 milhões de cópias e encerrariam a carreira da banda. O objetivo era não se vender ao sucesso, mas as polêmicas só davam mais visibilidade ao grupo. O primeiro sucesso, Motown Junk, foi lançado pela gravadora Heavenly Records. The Manic Street Preachers are a band formed in Wales around the year 1989 in Blackwood. School friends James Dean Bradfield (vocals and guitar), Nicky Wire (bass) and Sean Moore (drums) decided by the name of Betty Blue (English title of the film 37 ° 2 le matin Jean-Jacques Beineix starring Béatrice Dalle in the role of Betty.), but before they release the first single, the trio adopted Manic Street Preachers. Os Mutantes é uma banda brasileira de rock psicodélico formada durante o tropicalismo no ano de 1966, em São Paulo, por Arnaldo Baptista (baixo, teclado, vocais), Rita Lee (vocais) e Sérgio Dias (guitarra, baixo, vocais). Também participaram do grupo Liminha (baixista), Dinho Leme (bateria) e Zélia Duncan. A banda é considerada um dos principais grupos do rock brasileiro. Além do inovador uso de feedback, distorção e truques de estúdio de todos os tipos, os Mutantes foram os pioneiros na mescla do rock and roll com elementos musicais e temáticos brasileiros. Outra característica do grupo era a irreverência. Se antes dos Mutantes, o gênero no Brasil era basicamente imitativo, a partir do pioneirismo de Arnaldo, Sérgio e Rita, abriu-se o caminho do hibridismo. Os Mutantes iniciou suas atividades em 1966, como um trio, quando se apresentaram em um programa da TV Record, até terminar em 1978 com apenas Sérgio Dias como integrante original. Ao longo destes doze anos, foram gravados nove álbuns - sendo que dois deles, O A e o Z e Tecnicolor, foram lançados apenas na década de 1990.
