Amaranthe, anteriormente chamada Avalanche, é uma banda sueca-dinamarquesa de death metal melódico formada em Gotemburgo, SWE em 2008 por Jake E e Olof Mörck (Dragonland, Nightrage). O “projeto” Avalanche começou a tomar forma quando os cantores Elize Ryd e Andy Solvestrom , o bateirista Morten Lowe e o baixista Johan se juntaram à banda. Com essa formação, a banda lançou, em 2008, uma demo em sua página no MySpace denominada “Leave Everything Behind”. Em 2009, devido a uma reivindicação de direitos autorais, a banda decidiu mudar de nome para Amaranthe e iniciou os trabalhos de pré-produção do seu futuro debut. Antes mesmo de lançar um álbum, a banda já havia atuado em diversos festivais importantes, como o Getaway Rock Festival. O primeiro álbum “Amaranthe” foi lançado em 13 de abril de 2011 na Europa pela Spinefarm Records, o baixista Peter Iwers do In Flames e o tecladista Rickard Zander do Evergrey estavam entre os músicos convidados. Poucos meses após o lançamento do álbum a banda obteve grande sucesso e notoriedade no cenário heavy metal e realizou grandes concertos musicais por todo o mundo, tocando ao lado de bandas consagradas como Megadeth, Motörhead e HammerFall. A banda possui um estilo musical bastante singular e pioneiro em relação às outras bandas de metal. Em suas composições a influência da música eletrônica e o som pesado do death metal é facilmente notado, e também a participação de três vocalistas. Isso os diferencia bastante das outras bandas de metal que possuem em sua maioria apenas um vocalista, tais características poderiam enquadrar a banda em uma nova vertente do metal. [Fonte: lastfm]

A few months after the album's release the band achieved great success and notoriety in the heavy metal scene and held large concerts around the world, playing alongside bands like consecrated Megadeth, Motörhead and HammerFall. In his compositions the influence of electronic music and the heavy sound of death metal is easily noticed, and also the participation of three vocalists.
