A história de Mantus realmente começa por volta de 1972 quando dois amigos, Billy Amendola e Frank DeCrescenzo , começou um grupo chamado Gypsy . Em 1974, um outro amigo , John Kaz se juntou à banda seguido por Jimmi Braffet . Dois anos mais tarde , Jimmy Maer juntou também. A banda foi principalmente uma banda de rock , influenciado por outras bandas como rainha , Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heep e The Beatles. Eles também escreveram algum material próprio. The band was primarily a rock band , influenced by bands such as Queen , Led Zeppelin , Uriah Heep and The Beatles . They also wrote some own material . In the summer of 1976 at a block party in Brooklyn , New York , the story begins ... This Mantus Gypsy night would be performing for the last time and a new band - Mantus was founded ! The five friends - Billy " Bdrum " Amendola (drums , percussion , vocals ) , Frank " Deac " DeCrescenzo ( vocals , percussion , harmonica ) , John Kaz ( bass, vocals ) , Jimi Braffet ( guitar, vocals ) and Jimmy Maher (guitar , keyboards , vocals ) - changed its name to Gypsy Mantus just to show that this was a new beginning for the band . They were now entering the waters of Disco , although they still played rock for a while 'til 1978. They used to do shows throughout the New York area and New Jersey. And the music critic for the New York Times , John Rockwell once attended one of these shows and wrote " Mantus is one of the best bands to come around in a long time . " It was not actually until 1977 things actually started the band . That year the boys rough demo found its way to Will Crittendon , who was the owner of an independent record label and was looking for new young talent to burn . Since the band members can also write your own material , Mantus was exactly what I was looking for Will Crittendon . Will also managed to bring out some R & B and Motown influences of group members and , along with his rock influenced bands original sound was made ... And the guys have their recording contract !
