PUNK ROCK
1995
Bitrate 256 kbps
[cd quality]+

Before recording their first EP, 1000 Hours (1989), they had to change the name. The label owner, Larry Livermore, found that there could be confusion with another band names of the scene of the Bay Area, called Sweet Baby. They say the name Green Day (Green Day) came because of the large consumption of marijuana of its members. In addition, Al Sobrante wrote 'Green Day' in a sweatshirt that used to use. Within days, the name had been decorated by the few fans of the trio. At first, Livermore did not like the new name, but accepted the decision. In April 1990, the band released their first official full disk: 39 / Smooth. With 10 songs, this is only full length with Al Sobrante on drums. The person responsible for the cover art was Jesse Michaels, lead singer of Operation Ivy, one of the bands that influenced Green Day at the beginning of his career ... [Credits: lastfm]
