Captain Beyond foi uma banda de rock americana formada em Los Angeles, Califórnia em 1972. Seus membros eram cantor Rod Evans, o guitarrista Larry “Rhino” Reinhardt, o baixista Lee Dorman e o baterista Bobby Caldwell. Evans era o vocalista original do Deep Purple e, provavelmente, mais conhecido por seus vocais em sua estréia 1968 com a música “Hush”; Rheinhardt e Dorman tinha tocado no Iron Butterfly. Caldwell chegou a tocar com Johnny Winter. Ele foi substituído pelo baterista Martin Rodriguez no segundo álbum do grupo (que também contou com futuro tecladista do Double Trouble, Reese Wynans), após o álbum Evans deixou a banda. Captain Beyond re-formado em 1976, com o cantor Willy Daffern e Caldwell volta na bateria. Captain Beyond toca hard rock influenciado pelo rock progressivo. Captain Beyond was an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1972. Its members were singer Rod Evans, guitarist Larry "Rhino" Reinhardt, bassist Lee Dorman and drummer Bobby Caldwell. Evans was the original lead singer of Deep Purple and probably best known for his vocals on his debut in 1968 with the song "Hush"; Rheinhardt and Dorman had touched the Iron Butterfly. Caldwell came to play with Johnny Winter. He was replaced by drummer Martin Rodriguez in the second album of the group (which also featured future keyboardist Double Trouble, Reese Wynans) after the album Evans left the band. Captain Beyond re-formed in 1976 with singer Willy Daffern and Caldwell back on drums. Captain Beyond plays hard rock influenced by progressive rock. Although the band has achieved some commercial success, the group, however, gained a cult following. Reinhardt and Caldwell reformed Captain Beyond in 1998.
