O Firehouse surgiu no final dos anos 80 em meio à onda do hard rock americano, o chamado “glam metal”. Com um visual menos carregado que as bandas glam, porém com a mesma temática nas letras e no som, o Firehouse lançou seu primeiro álbum homônimo em 1990. Este álbum contém os hits “Don´t Treat Me Bad” e “Love of a Lifetime”, campeãs de execução nas rádios e na MTV. O vocalista da banda CJ Snare, destacava-se pelo seu grande alcance vocal. A banda já ocupava lugar de destaque no cenário pop metal. No ano sequinte, em 1991, lançam “Hold Your Fire”, uma espécie de continuação do primeiro álbum devido à semelhança musical. As músicas “Reach For the Sky”, Sleep With You” e “When I Look Into Your Eyes” foram hits nos EUA e na Europa, elevando ainda mais o status da banda. Notava-se no Firehouse um peso intenso na guitarra, que era amenizado pelas melodias pop e pelo vocal de CJ Snare. Chegou o grunge e com ele o final da alegria e do visual colorido do hard rock. The Firehouse emerged in the late 80 amid a wave of the American hard rock, called "glam metal".
