Tudo começou em novembro de 1990 na cidade de Fortaleza/CE, quando o empresário Emanuel Gurgel, que na época trabalhava com confecções e já tinha uma banda de baile chamada Banda Aquários, resolveu criar um grupo musical que tocasse exclusivamente o forró. A idéia foi suficiente para dar inicio ao projeto que recebeu o nome de um time de handbool comandado pelo Emanuel nos tempos de faculdade que se chamava Mastruz com Leite. O time acabou e a banda herdou o nome. No início o Mastruz tocava sempre nos intervalos dos shows da Banda Aquários. Com o tempo o grupo tornou-se a principal atração nas festas da capital cearense, sendo a pioneira a incorporar à sanfona, a zabumba e o triangulo, novos instrumentos como: o sax, o baixo, a guitarra e o teclado, levando para ao público uma composição inovadora e estilizada. Pouco a pouco a banda foi conquistando seu espaço e atendendo as pretensões de Emanuel em revolucionar os padrões do forró. A banda ficou consagrada como a maior Banda de Forró do Planeta, pela sua estrutura e por realizar cinco horas de shows direto sem parar. No dia 22 de dezembro de 1990, foi realizado o primeiro show do Mastruz como principal atração no Mangueira Clube em Fortaleza. O sucesso veio à tona e o grupo ficou conhecido, expandindo novos contratos de shows pelas principais cidades do interior do Ceará (Quixadá, Crato, Sobral, Iguatu, Crateús, etc), até chegar em Araripina/PE, onde ocorreu o primeiro show além das divisas do estado cearense. Hoje a banda percorre o Brasil inteiro e já esteve em Ney Wark, Stanford e Massachusetts nos Estados Unidos, além de várias turnês em Genebra, Suíça, Lisboa, Porto e Zurique na Europa. It all began in November 1990 in the city of Fortaleza / CE, when the entrepreneur Emanuel Gurgel, then working with clothing and already had a dance band called Banda Aquariums, decided to create a musical group that uniquely touched the forró. Clutch é uma banda de Stoner Rock formada em Germantown, Maryland nos Estados Unidos no ano de 1990. A banda é conhecida por fazer letras engraçadas, irônicas e sarcásticas, fazendo referências a história, a mitologia e a cultura popular americana. Apesar de ter assinado com grandes gravadoras nos anos 90, a banda nunca fez um grande sucesso nas rádios americanas e nunca vendeu milhões de cópias. O grande trunfo do Clutch são os fãs devotos que a banda acumulou em seus shows, dando-lhe o status de cult. Mesmo não sendo uma banda muito famosa, o Clutch chega a fazer 100 apresentações por ano. Aos cinco anos de idade assistia programas de calouros, como o de Chacrinha. Levada por amigos para cantar, iniciou sua maratona de apresentações em barzinhos e pequenas festas da cidade até 1985, quando puxou pela primeira vez o bloco com trio elétrico "Freelance", no carnaval da Bahia. Em 1986, passou a integrar a Banda Cheiro de Amor, que naquela época chamava-se "Pimenta de Cheiro". No ano seguinte a banda gravou seu primeiro disco "Pimenta de cheiro". Durante os anos seguintes, gravou outros 10 discos integrando a banda. Em 1996, deixou a Banda Cheiro de Amor e partiu para a carreira solo, tornando-se uma das principais atrações dos carnavais fora de época pelo Brasil e exterior, a exemplo do primeiro carnaval realizado no México na cidade de Cancun - "O Carnacancun". Seu primeiro CD solo, "Márcia Freire", foi lançado em 1996, pela PolyGram. Logo depois lançou os discos "Maravilha" e "Gente Boa", de 1997 e 1999, respectivamente, ambos pela mesma gravadora. Foram sucessos músicas como: "Pureza da paixão", "Auê", "Macarena","Lero-lero" e "Vermelho" (sensação do "Festival de Parintins" e do "Festival do Avante", em Portugal) e ainda as composições "Subir ladeira" e "Maravilha". Em 2000, lançou pela Abril Music o cd solo, "Timbalayê", no qual gravou clássicos como "Só quero um xodó", de Luiz Gonzaga e outras como "Como alcançar uma estrela", de Miltinho e Edilberto.
