Revoluções por Minuto (também conhecida somente por RPM) é um grupo de rock brasileiro surgido em 1985, tendo sido um dos mais populares do país nos anos de 1986 e 1987. É um dos grupos mais bem sucedidos da história da música brasileira. Na segunda metade dos anos 80, conseguiram bater todos os recordes de vendagens da industria fonográfica brasileira. A suposta visão crítica e bagagem cultural do letrista Paulo Ricardo foi um argumento de marketing na vendagem dos discos da banda. A banda vendeu mais de 3 milhões de discos em sua carreira. Tudo começou em 1976, em São Paulo, Brasil quando Paulo Ricardo namorava Eloá, que morava em frente à casa onde Luiz Schiavon ensaiava com May East. O casal resolveu um dia visitar os vizinhos, que estavam num ensaio crucial que decidiam entre cantar em inglês ou português. Paulo Ricardo deu seu voto, opinando pelas letras em português e assim conheceu Luiz Schiavon. Neste dia conversaram muito sobre música. Paulo estava começando sua carreira como crítico musical e Schiavon era um pianista clássico, que buscava um novo caminho, mais popular, mas sentiu dificuldade em encontrar alguém. Foi assim que Paulo recebeu o convite para integrar o “Aura”, uma banda de jazz-rock que ainda tinha Paulinho Valenza na bateria. Depois de três anos de ensaios e nenhum show, Luiz encantou-se pela música eletrônica e pela tecnologia de novos sintetizadores, enquanto Paulo decidiu morar na Europa – primeiro na França e depois em Londres, de onde escrevia sobre novidades musicais para a revista Somtrês e se correspondia com freqüência com Schiavon. Este choque de personalidades impulsionou a criação do RPM depois que o trabalho da dupla foi retomado em fins de 1983, já em São Paulo. Juntos, criaram as primeiras canções. As primeiras foram “Olhar 43”, “A Cruz e A Espada” e a música que batizara a banda que ali nascia: “Revoluções por Minuto”. Gravaram uma fita demo destas músicas com uma bateria eletrônica e encaminharam à gravadora CBS, que considerou-as ambíguas e difíceis de tocar nas rádios. O nome 45 RPM (45 rotações por minuto) foi sugerido inicialmente em uma lista de nomes feita por uma amiga. Schiavon e Paulo gostaram do nome, mas tiraram o 45 e mudaram o Rotações por Revoluções. Convidaram o guitarrista Fernando Deluqui (ex-guitarrista da cantora May East, ex-integrante da Gang 90 e as Absurdettes) e o baterista Charles Gavin (ex-Ira!, futuro baterista dos Titãs) para completar o grupo. Já batizados de RPM, conseguiram um contrato com a gravadora Sony Music, com o compacto de 1984, que viria com as faixas “Louras Geladas” (a música virou um hit das danceterias e das paradas de sucesso das rádios) e “Revoluções por Minuto” (que foi censurada na época). “Louras Geladas” caiu no gosto do público de todo o país e levou a banda a gravar o seu álbum de estréia, já com o baterista Paulo P.A. Pagni (ex-Patife Band), que entrou para o RPM como convidado, no meio da gravação do LP, o que explica a sua ausência na capa do disco “Revoluções Por Minuto”. Revolutions Per Minute (also known only to RPM) is aBrazilian rock band emerged in 1985 and was one of the most popular country in the years 1986 and 1987. It is one of the most successful groups in the history of Brazilian music. In the second half of the 80s, managed to beat all the bandages records of Brazilian music industry. They recorded a demo tape of these songs with a drum machine and forwarded to the record company CBS, which considered ambiguous and difficult to play on the radio. The name 45 rpm (45 rpm) was first suggested in a list of names made by a friend. Schiavon and Paul liked the name, but they took the 45 and changed the Revolutions per Revolutions. Invited guitarist Fernando Deluqui (former guitarist of the singer May East, former member of the Gang 90 and Absurdettes) and drummer Charles Gavin (former drummer Ira !, future of the Titans) to complete the group. Em 1969, formou, juntamente com outros jovens músicos cearenses, um grupo chamado "Pessoal do Ceará". Viajou para o sul do país. Em 1972, a cantora Eliana Pittman lançou a composição "Beira-mar" com a qual fez algum sucesso. Em 25 anos de carreira compôs mais de 250 músicas e letras, lançando 12 discos, além de quatro trilhas sonoras de filmes. Apareceu para o grande público nos anos 1970, quando sua composição "Pavão misterioso" foi incluída como tema de abertura da novela "Saramandaia", de Dias Gomes, pela TV Globo. Em 1973, gravou com Rodger, Teti e o arranjador Hareton Salvanini o LP "Meu corpo, minha embalagem, todo gasto na viagem", pela Continental. Em 1975, participou do Festival Abertura com a música "Vaila", em parceria com Brandão. Fez a música e o clip de encerramento da novela "Tocaia grande", de Walter Avancini, pela TV Manchete, nos anos 1990. No cinema, fez trilhas para os filmes "Luiza homem", de Fábio Barreto, em que também atua no papel de um poeta de cordel, e para os filmes "Tigipió" e "Calor da pele", ambos de Pedro Jorge. Dirigiu, musicou e fez o roteiro de "Cauim", apresentado em todos os shows de sua turnê de 1978/79. Participou, também, dos especiais de TV "Ednardo - Ceará Quatro Estações", escolhido como melhor vídeo artístico musical pela Secretaria de Cultura do Estado do Ceará, e "Ednardo especial", apresentados pela TV E e pela TV Manchete. Entre os grandes sucessos de Ednardo estão"Terral", "Pavão misterioso", "Artigo 26", "A manga rosa", "Beir-mar", "Carneiro", "Enquanto engomo a calça" e "Rubi". Em 2002, gravou com Belchior e Amelinha o CD "Pessoal do Ceará", produzido por Robertinho do Recife, no qual constaram antigas composições suas como "Artigo 26" e "Pavão misterioso", além da inédita "Mote, Tom e Radar". Foghat é uma banda de rock britânica que teve o auge de seu sucesso na segunda metade da década de 1970. Seu estilo pode ser descrito como blues-rock, dominados por guitarras e guitarras slide.
