The band was born in California in 1985 with friends Perry Farrell (vocals), Eric Avery (bass) and Dave Navarro (guitar). They gathered to play rock'n'roll influenced by hardcore, metal, funk and even jazz. After the entry of drummer Stephen Perkins, the group began making small concerts in the area and quickly drew attention. Fans increased each presentation and record labels were closely marked in the group. They chose to release the first disc with a small label called Triple XXX. "Jane's Addiction" was recorded live at a concert at the Roxy in Los Angeles and the highlights were "Pigs in Zen" and "Jane Says," plus a cover of "Sympathy for the Devil" by the Rolling Stones. Finally a weight label, Warner, managed to reach an agreement with Jane's Addiction. In 1988, he released "Nothing's Shocking", which sparked controversy by bringing nudity on the album cover - which only helped the permanence of work for 35 weeks on the charts. After an explosive tour in 1991, the group announced the end but the Jane's Addiction was already considered the forerunner of the underground music scene, which would make room for The Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, among others. In 1997, Jane's Addiction was officially back with the tour "It'z My Party" in the United States and Canada. The group also launched the album "Kettle Whistle" with live versions of songs from greater career success and never recorded some demos. The disc was very successful, but the tour was amazing. Even so, they all stopped again and again to devote to other projects. In 2008, there was another meeting of the banda. This time in Los Angeles to receive the award NME Awards, including the presence of Eric Avery who had not played with the band since 1991. The meeting was attended by about 400 people in the audience and the band played four songs including an acoustic version of Jane Says. The premium Janes Addiction was the Godlike Genius, being honored for her role in the scenario of heavy metal alternative. [Source: lastfm]
