Desde muito pequena sempre guardei todos os preceitos que os meus pais me passaram, e faço isso até hoje, eles sempre me mostram dentro da palavra de Deus como é que devemos viver, e me ensinam a crescer no temor do Senhor. A primeira promessa de Deus a respeito do meu ministério foi quando minha mãe estava gestante de quatro meses, orando em uma consagração pela manhã, Deus levou até ela uma irmã, e através desta veio a primeira profecia a respeito deste grande ministério que Deus tem para comigo. Mesmo antes de completar ano, já louvava ao Senhor; com apenas alguns meses de idade (Com dez meses louvei ao Senhor pela primeira vez e acompanhei certinho o instrumento tocado pelo meu pai) Sempre tive muita facilidade com as palavras (minha mãe conta que as pessoas falavam para ela: põe esta menina em uma escola para super dotados, pois ela é muito inteligente.). Mas ela respondia: não! Isto é o Espírito de Deus sobre a vida dela. Desde então é uma história de sucesso com o meu Deus, são tantas coisas pra contar... É, tenho visto, que tudo que Deus fala cumpri-se, pois Ele é ontem, é hoje, e é eternamente(Desde a antiguidade não se viu ou ouviu falar de outro deus além de Ti, de um deus que faz coisas assim em favor dos que confiam Nele. Um dos grupos vocais masculinos mais duradouros da música brasileira, seus integrantes começaram a cantar juntos no Rio de Janeiro em 1962, inicialmente como trio: Ruy, Aquiles e Miltinho, ainda sem o tecladista e arranjador Magro. As primeiras apresentações foram nos CPCs (Centros Populares de Cultura) da UNE (União Nacional dos Estudantes), e depois da entrada de Magro ficaram conhecidos como Quarteto do CPC. O nome MPB-4 veio em 1964, por sugestão do jornalista Sérgio Porto. No mesmo ano gravaram o primeiro compacto, com a música "Samba Bem" (Luiz José). No ano seguinte, apresentaram-se em São Paulo com o Quarteto em Cy na boate Le Club, e um pouco mais tarde conheceram Chico Buarque. Ainda com o Quarteto em Cy, e mais Rosinha de Valença e Oscar Castro Neves, fizeram, no Rio de Janeiro, em 1965, o espetáculo "Contraponto" na boate Zum Zum. Pouco tempo depois participaram do famoso espetáculo "O Samba Pede Passagem", cantando ao lado de Baden Powell, Aracy de Almeida, e Ismael Silva. Participaram ainda de outros espetáculos que movimentavam a cena cultural carioca e paulista na segunda metade da década de 60, e gravaram o LP "MPB-4" em 1966. No mesmo ano participaram do II Festival de Música Popular Brasileira da TV Record com "Canção de Não Cantar", de Sergio Bittencourt. Na edição de 1967 do mesmo festival, fizeram muito sucesso defendendo "Gabriela" (Maranhão) e "Roda Viva" (Chico Buarque). Foram os primeiros a gravar Aldir Blanc, com a música "Amigo É pra Essas Coisas" (com Silvio da Silva Jr.), em 1970. A ligação do MPB-4 com Chico Buarque foi, desde o início, muito próxima. O quarteto gravou diversas músicas de sucesso, como "Ela Desatinou", "Benvinda" e "Partido Alto". Nas décadas de 70 e 80 seguiram gravando compositores brasileiros, principalmente sambas, e gravando LPs com freqüência. Nos anos 90 seguiram em plena atividade, caracterizando-se pela fidelidade ao repertório brasileiro de qualidade, com arranjos e produções bem cuidados. Chamada de “Avó do Punk”, ela integrou as performances de poesia beat com o rock de três acordes. A canção mais famosa de Smith, “Because The Night”, foi composta com Bruce Springsteen e ocupou o 13º lugar no Billboard Hot 100 em 1978. Em 2007, foi inserida no Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
