Embora o punk rock britânico seja geralmente associado apenas ao Sex Pistols, tão importantes quanto estes na definição e difusão do estilo foi a banda The Clash, menos baseada em atitude e mais baseada em conteúdo que seus companheiros de alfinetes no nariz. Enquanto os Sex Pistols pregavam anarquia pura e simples, o Clash mostrava em suas letras críticas sociais sutis e algum esquerdismo. Enquanto os Sex Pistols era apenas uma banda de rebeldes, o Clash era uma banda de rebeldes com uma causa. Com o segundo LP, Give 'Em Enough Rope de 1978, conseguiram finalmente alguma repercussão no mercado americano fazendo com que o primeiro LP fosse também lançado a nível mundial. Seguiram-se duas bem sucedidas turnês na América. A influência de novas sonoridades, principalmente o reggae, ficaria clara no terceiro LP, London Calling (curiosamente um LP duplo que foi vendido ao preço de LP simples, fato inédito até então). London Calling foi o maior sucesso comercial da banda. O experimentalismo foi ainda mais longe, incluindo instrumentos de sopro e eletrônicos. Enquanto a popularidade da banda crescia a nível mundial os fãs ingleses passavam a abandona-los e a banda consequentemente passava a se apresentar mais na América. Enquanto a popularidade do Clash declinava Mick Jones começava a despontar com sua nova banda, Big Audio Dinamite. While the British punk rock is usually associated only with Fri Pistols, as important as those in the definition and dissemination of the style was the band The Clash, based less attitude and more content-based than his fellows of pins in the nose. While the Fri Pistols preached pure and simple anarchy, the Clash showed in his lyrics and some subtle social criticism leftism. Musically speaking, the Clash was able to evolve a lot in the course of his career, including venturing into different sounds of punk rock, flirting with pop, reggae, ska and blues, making way for the new wave. The band formed The Clash was called London SS, formed in 1975 by guitarists Mick Jones and Keith Lavene (who later would participate in the Public Image Limited John Lyndow), bassist Paul Simonon and drummer Terry Chimes (Tory Crimes) . Before the band had spent the drummer Nicky Headon and bassist Tony James (later participate bands Generation X and Sigue Sigue Sputnik). Savatage é uma banda norte-americana de heavy metal fundada em Tampa, na Flórida, no final dos anos 70 com o nome de Avatar pelos irmãos Jon e Criss Oliva, do Metropolis. Em 1979, o baterista Steve Wacholz se junta à banda, e, após inúmeros baixista, o line-up estabiliza-se com Keith Collins. Após participar de algumas compliações, o Avatar lança de forma independente o EP City Beneath the Surface em 1982, mas abandona o nome para evitar futuros problemas legais. Assim, o Savatage inicia sua carreira seguindo uma linha mais tradicional, na veia do metal inglês, quando lança pela Par Records seus primeiros discos (Sirens, 1982, e o EP The Dungeons Are Calling, 1983), cujos destaques eram a voz única de Jon Oliva e os riffs agressivos de seu irmão Criss. Após a turnê européia no início de 2002, Jack Frost é demitido para um retorno nunca concretizado de Al Pitrelli, desempregado após o final abrupto do Megadeth. Savatage is an American heavy metal band founded in Tampa, Florida, in the late 70s by the name of Avatar by brothers Jon and Criss Oliva, the Metropolis. In 1979, drummer Steve Wacholz joins the band, and after countless bassist, the line-up stabilizes with Keith Collins. Turisas é uma banda finlandesa de Folk Metal sinfônico fundada em 1997 pelo vocalista Mathias Nygård e o guitarrista Jussi Wickström. Seu nome oriunda de um monstro marinho da mitologia finlandesa algumas vezes considerado um deus da guerra. O título do primeiro álbum, Battle Metal, (lançado em 2004), deu origem ao termo do mesmo nome, sendo usado com uma descrição do Folk Metal (principalmente pela revista Metal Hammer e seus leitores). Porém, o Battle Metal não é caracterizado como um subgênero do Metal. Em outubro de 2005, tempo depois do lançamento do primeiro álbum, o guitarrista, George Laakso, sofreu um acidente de carro e, devido a extensão de sua lesão medular, em julho de 2006 declarou sua demissão definitiva da banda. Mercury, Brian May e Roger Taylor formaram os Queen em 1971 e, alguns meses depois, juntou-se-lhes John Deacon, completando assim a formação do grupo. Dois anos de ensaios passados, os músicos editaram o seu primeiro álbum, "Queen" (1971), que passou ainda um pouco despercebido. No entanto, em 1974, a banda conseguiu uma muito maior exposição com "Queen II", principalmente em Inglaterra, mas também nos Estados Unidos, para onde partiu em digressão após o lançamento do álbum. Ainda durante esse ano surgiu "Sheer Heart Attack", seguido de "A Night at the Opera", um álbum para o qual os Queen trabalharam arduamente e, que de acordo com vários relatórios, foi o disco de rock mais caro alguma vez feito até à sua data de edição.
