Scissor Sisters é uma banda americana de Nova York formada em 2001, cujo título é um codinome referente a uma gíria em Inglês para uma posição sexual Lésbica. Em 2000 Shears conhece Babydaddy numa visita a Kentucky, e logo começam a compor e tocar músicas. Shears volta à cena agitada de Nova Iorque com o seu novo “amigo” Babydaddy, até que, na noite de Halloween o duo conhece Ana Matronic num cabaret, a afinidade foi imediata e a proposta de uma banda foi se tornando cada vez mais próxima, e se consolidou com a entrada do até então stripper Del Marquis, que trabalhava na boate IC-Guyz, em NY. E assim nascem, de fato, os Scissor Sisters. Mais tardiamente Paddy Boom entra para o grupo como baterista. Rollins Band foi uma banda estadunidense de rock liderada por Henry Rollins, o vocalista do Black Flag. Eles são mais conhecidos por suas músicas "Low Self Opinion" e "Liar", que conseguiu bastante destaque na MTV, ainda no começo dos anos 90. O crítico Steve Huey, descreve a música deles como sendo "intransigente, intensa, com fusões catárticas do hard rock, funk, pós-punk, noise, do jazz e do experimentalismo, com Rollins gritando nervoso..." Em 2000, Rollins Band foi incluída na lista do "Greatest Artists of Hard Rock", da VH1, ficando na 47º posição. Rollins era o vocalista da State of Alert, um grupo punk de Washington, D.C., de 1980 a 1981. Após o término da State of Alert, ele ingressou no Black Flag, outra banda punk, onde permaneceu de agosto de 1981 até o fim da banda, em meados de 1986. O Black Flag, nesse meio tempo, já havia chamado um pouco de atenção no mainstream, tornando-se assim uma das mais importantes bandas de punk rock dos anos 80.
