[Fonte: wikipedia]

Trio Galleta was an Argentine soul rock band formed in Mar del Plata in 1969. Originally composed by Carlos Iturbide (guitar and vocals), Juan Carlos Saporiti "Juancho" (drums) and Anibal Conte "Lolo" (bass). In 1970, when the custom of singing in English was already little accepted, they released their first cover album called "Estoy Hurtado" by Odeon Records. Ranging from "Green River" by Creedence Clearwater Revival to "Light My Fire" by The Doors, with the style that became known as rock soul. Iturbide had a hoarse voice, which was a defining characteristic of the band. In 1971 they released an album called Cookie "Soul". His influences were: Otis Reddinng, James Brown, Ray Charles, Stax, Wilson Pickett, Johnny Taylor, Motown, Jeff Beck Group, Bill Deal & The Rhondels, Steve Crooper, Creedence, Southern Soul, Small Faces. But now they have not just done covers. Eight of the twelve songs are written by Iturbide and Conte (who is responsible for the lyrics). On the back cover they say their lyrics range from LSD to racial problems. At that time the band made a great international success, mainly in Brazil, getting a contract with Rede Globo and occupying for 14 weeks the first place in the sales charts, keeping Roberto Carlos in second place. In 1972, the song "I Am So Happy" was among the 100 most played songs in Brazil, occupying the position of number 37 (many years later, in 1986, this song would appear in a Brazilian compilation called "14 Records of Gold "launched by EMI-Odeon in collaboration with the SBT). As a final attempt, in 1975, Iturbide intends to continue the project and resolves to reformulate its band, with a quartet that included Eduardo Sanz, like guitarist, Lito Olmos, in the bass, and Maria Jose, in the battery. "Cookie" hits stores in 1975. "Soul" is still the main reason, but now they have discovered the hard rock covers of some songs by the British band Ten Years After. And, from Trio Cookie, they are called only Cookie, but not leaving aside that style they call soul rock. As the year was 1975 and those times were troubled in Latin America, the album did not have a receptivity to its height. In Brazil, Carlos Iturbide is considered one of the greatest idols of this genre coming from Argentina. In Brazil the band The Fevers recorded in the end of 1971 the song "I am so Happy" that in Portuguese was transformed into "I am Happy" becoming also success in this version. In the 21st century the songs of the band continue to be re-recorded and concerts are performed in their tribute. [Source: wikipedia]
