O grupo Menudo nasceu em Porto Rico, em 1977, sob a coordenação de Edgardo Diaz. Desde o início, seu criador tinha a idéia de manter cinco jovens até os 17 anos e, então, começar a fazer revezamento para que o grupo se mantivesse sempre jovem. A primeira formação do grupo foi composta pelos primos Ricky Melendez, Carlos Melendez e Oscar Melendez,e pelos irmãos Fernando e Nefty Sallaberry. No entanto, a formação mais famosa, no Brasil, era integrada por Charlie, Ray, Robby (Draco), Roy e Ricky(Martin). A banda estourou no país em 1984 e continuou fazendo sucesso até o final dos anos 80. Os álbuns mais famosos do grupo são Reach out, Menudo Mania e Evolución.
