Silverchair é uma banda australiana de Rock formada em 1992. A banda foi formada em Newcastle, New South Wales, Austrália com o nome Innocent Criminals pelo vocalista Daniel Johns, o baixista Chris Joannou, e o baterista Ben Gillies. Silverchair tem obtido um sucesso extremo na indrustria musical australiana, sendo a banda recordista de prêmios do ARIA Awards. When they moved on to Newcastle High School, his classmates Chris Joannou and Tobin Finnane joined the band as bassist and guitarist, respectively. The quartet formed the band "Innocent Criminals" who played versions of bands like Midnight Oil, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Nirvana. Later, Tobin Finnane moved to England because of his father's work. The first album of Silverchair, Frogstomp, was recorded in just nine days and released in 1995. All members of the band had only fifteen years old and still attending high school. All letters were based on fictitious facts, taking inspiration from television, hometown tragedies, and perceptions of the pain of friends. The album was well received; the Allmusic and Rolling Stone magazine gave it 4 to 4.5 stars respectively, the intensity of it, especially the hit Tomorrow. Os Gufs começou como uma banda de Eastside Milwaukee em 1988, com estudantes da Universidade de Wisconsin - Milwaukee Goran Kralj e Scott Schwebel. The Gufs started as a band of Eastside Milwaukee in 1988 , with students from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee Goran Kralj and Scott Schwebel . Kralj and Schwebel , roommates and teammates on the football team of UWM , recruited younger brother Kralj , Dejan Kralj and school friend Tony Luna , completing the quartet on bass and guitar. The band took its name from a place where the soul of a baby comes before the child is born , a phrase used by Demi Moore in The Seventh Sign. After a few years playing in local bars in Milwaukee Eastside , the band's lineup changed , Luna left in 1990 to pursue a career as a sound engineer , paving the way for student from Marquette University and Milwaukee native Morgan Dawley to fill the vacancy . The band soon gained strength, doing shows more often over Milwaukee . The band also featured percussionist Brian Pettit on all their albums on Atlantic Records until the Release of " The Gufs " . After the album release and tour, Brian left the band to pursue other interests . The band came second in a band contest at Marquette University in 1991 .
