Turisas é uma banda finlandesa de Folk Metal sinfônico fundada em 1997 pelo vocalista Mathias Nygård e o guitarrista Jussi Wickström. Seu nome oriunda de um monstro marinho da mitologia finlandesa algumas vezes considerado um deus da guerra. O título do primeiro álbum, Battle Metal, (lançado em 2004), deu origem ao termo do mesmo nome, sendo usado com uma descrição do Folk Metal (principalmente pela revista Metal Hammer e seus leitores). Porém, o Battle Metal não é caracterizado como um subgênero do Metal. Em outubro de 2005, tempo depois do lançamento do primeiro álbum, o guitarrista, George Laakso, sofreu um acidente de carro e, devido a extensão de sua lesão medular, em julho de 2006 declarou sua demissão definitiva da banda. Mesmo com o acidente de Laakso, a banda continuou a trabalhar, e em seu segundo álbum, intitulado The Varangian Way, o guitarrista Jussi Wickström assumiu a posição de Laakso na guitarra para gravá-lo. Mercury, Brian May e Roger Taylor formaram os Queen em 1971 e, alguns meses depois, juntou-se-lhes John Deacon, completando assim a formação do grupo. Dois anos de ensaios passados, os músicos editaram o seu primeiro álbum, "Queen" (1971), que passou ainda um pouco despercebido. No entanto, em 1974, a banda conseguiu uma muito maior exposição com "Queen II", principalmente em Inglaterra, mas também nos Estados Unidos, para onde partiu em digressão após o lançamento do álbum. Ainda durante esse ano surgiu "Sheer Heart Attack", seguido de "A Night at the Opera", um álbum para o qual os Queen trabalharam arduamente e, que de acordo com vários relatórios, foi o disco de rock mais caro alguma vez feito até à sua data de edição. Dele, foi extraído o single "Bohemian Rapsody", que se tornou na "canção de marca" dos Queen, tendo permanecido nove semanas no primeiro lugar do top britânico, batendo assim o record da mais longa estadia no topo da tabela. Os Queen tornaram-se numa lenda do rock após o reconhecimento do seu talento, mas tal facto não impediu que o grupo continuasse a editar discos regularmente. Em 1976, "A Day at the Races" viu a luz do dia e, durante os cinco anos que se seguiram, a banda continuou a editar singles no Reino Unido e nos Estados Unidos, ao mesmo tempo que via os seus álbuns chegarem a disco de ouro e platina. Os tempos de glória da banda foram brutalmente interrompidos no dia 22 de Novembro de 1991, dia em que Freddie Mercury declarou que estava infectado com o vírus da SIDA, tendo morrido dois dias depois. Na Primavera do ano seguinte, os restantes membros dos Queen organizaram um concerto no Estádio de Wembley em memória de Mercury, que foi transmitido internacionalmente para uma audiência de mais de um bilião de pessoas. O concerto, no qual tomaram parte nomes como David Bowie, Elton John, Annie Lennox, Def Leppard e Guns n'' Roses, arrecadou milhões que foram doados à Mercury Phoenix Trust, para campanhas de prevenção da doença. Em 1994, Roger Taylor, Brian May e John Deacon voltaram a encontrar-se para editar o material que Mercury tinha gravado pouco tempo antes da sua morte. O álbum póstumo "Made in Heaven", foi editado em 1995 e, apesar da opinião da crítica se ter dividido, o disco vendeu bem na Europa. Desde então, têm sido editadas regularmte colectâneas de êxitos dos Queen, o que continua a fazer deles um nome de referência tanto para músicos, como para novas gerações apreciadoras de música.
