O Saxon é uma das mais relevantes bandas de heavy metal do mundo, sendo ao lado do Iron Maiden a mais longeva banda da chamada NWOBHM, o movimento cultural furioso inglês que é, junto com as grandes bandas dos anos 60, a base do rock pesado na atualidade. Influência poderosa entre grande parte dos músicos do estilo, com seu som emblemático e suas letras, verdadeiros slogans do Metal, o Saxon cativa fans desde sua fundação até hoje, sendo considerada uma das bandas mais fiéis ao som original, e com uma “torcida organizada” quase tão fanática quanto o Manowar. De fato, talvez esta banda reúna um conjunto de atributos tão formidável, que possa ser considerada como uma das maiores representantes da NWOBHM. Foi na região de South Yorkshire (Inglaterra) onde surgiu em 1976 a banda Son Of A Bitch. Esta banda, formada por Graham Oliver e Steve Dawson, incorporou alguns integrantes de uma outra banda local, o Coast, que trazia Biff Byford no vocal e Paul Quinn na guitarra. Com essa formação a banda mudou o seu nome, passando a chamar-se apenas Saxon. A banda, que se apresentava em diversos clubes e pubs na Inglaterra, teve algumas composições lançadas em demo-tapes, as quais foram utilizadas por um novo selo que surgia na época, o Carrere Records. Já contratado, o Saxon preparou um álbum auto-intitulado, lançado no primeiro semestre de 1979. O primeiro single “Big Teaser”, mas o B-side deste single alcançou ótimos resultados na parada britânica, chegando a ficar por algum tempo em primeiro lugar: “Stallions of the Highway”. A banda também lançou outros dois singles, que ajudaram a promover a turnê que faziam ao lado do Motorhead, tocando inclusive por três noites seguidas na famosa casa de shows inglesa Hammersmith Odeon. Em 1983 a banda deixou o selo Carrere, por problemas de vendagens e de imediato assinou com a major EMI. O novo álbum, lançado em 1984, “Crusader”, é considerado por muitos o melhor álbum de toda a carreira da banda. Pato Fu é uma banda brasileira de rock alternativo formada em 1992 da banda Sustados por 1 Gesto, na cidade de Belo Horizonte. Ao lado de bandas como Radiohead, U2 e Portishead, foi considerada pela revista Time uma das dez melhores bandas do mundo fora dos Estados Unidos.1 Composta atualmente por Fernanda Takai, John Ulhoa, Ricardo Koctus, Glauco Nastacia e Lulu Camargo, a banda possui um som que vai do rock alternativo à música experimental, incluindo influências eletrônicas em certas faixas. Entre as músicas que a banda gravou mais famosas estão "Sobre O Tempo", "Antes Que Seja Tarde", "Depois", "Perdendo Dentes", "Made in Japan" e "Ando Meio Desligado" (regravação d'Os Mutantes). O grupo também é conhecido por ter lançado, em 2010, um disco tocado somente com instrumentos de brinquedo, com o qual conquistou o Disco de Ouro, em 2011, por seu selo independente Rotomusic - de forma que se tornou a primeira banda sem gravadora com um disco de vendagem superior a 40 mil discos. O primeiro disco ("Rotomusic de Liquidificapum", 1993) não teve grande alcance nacional, o que só aconteceu em 1995 com "Gol de Quem?". Com esse álbum lançou o primeiro sucesso, "Sobre o Tempo", que fez a banda tornar-se uma das mais tocadas em rádios e programas de televisão, além de fazer shows por todo o Brasil. Depois de "Tem Mas Acabou" (1996), "Televisão de Cachorro" (1998) foi outro CD popular, incluindo "Antes que Seja Tarde", "Eu Sei" e "Canção pra Você Viver Mais". Em 1999 lançaram "Isopor". Além de composições próprias, o grupo aposta também em covers e versões de outros artistas. Em 2001 é lançado “Ruído Rosa” com oito das treze faixas, mixado em Londres. O álbum mostra uma maturidade musical do grupo, além da aproximação do birtpop traz uma forte influência do rock nacional dos anos 80. Destaque, para a faixa-bônus com a regravação da canção dos Mutantes, "Ando Meio Desligado". Logo depois, em 2002, em comemoração aos dez anos de carreira, o Pato Fu grava o “MTV ao vivo” no Museu de Arte da Pampulha, em Belo Horizonte. O disco traz músicas consagradas do grupo e mais quatro composições inéditas, dentre elas a faixa "Nada Pra Mim", composição de John gravada anteriormente pela cantora Ana Carolina em seu primeiro disco. Em 2005 é a vez de “Toda cura para todo mal”. Canções inéditas que já se acumulavam desde o MTV Ao Vivo somaram-se às muitas compostas durante esse período. O CD foi todo gravado e mixado no estúdio que John e Fernanda tem em casa. O guitarrista assina pela primeira vez sozinho a produção de um disco do Pato Fu. São 13 faixas que mostram toda a diversidade de ritmos e influenciais da banda premiada em 2001 pela revista Time como uma das melhores do planeta.
