Grupo criado no Rio de Janeiro tendo como líder e fundador o baterista Téo Lima (Teófilo Pereira Lima - bateria, percussão e voz). Em suas várias formações fizeram parte Giovana Moretti (oboé e líder voz), Amaury Machado (violão e líder voz), Dudu Carybé (guitarra e cavaquinho), Nema Antunes (contrabaixo), Marco Brito (teclados), Pirulito (percussão) e Jaguara (percussão). No CD de estreia, "Batacotô", lançado pela gravadora Velas, em 1993, contou com as participações especiais de Dionne Warwick e Ivan Lins na faixa "Camaleão" (Ivan Lins, Vitor Martins e Aldir Blanc), com versão em inglês de Jack Cousineau e Giba Ferreira. Outra participação importante foi a de Gilberto Gil na faixa "Quilombos", de Lenine. Na faixa "Virou areia", de Lenine e Bráulio Tavares, a participação especial foi do próprio Lenine, sendo esta música incluída no "Jazz Book", livro oficial das universidades e escolas de música da América. Por fim, a participação de Ivan Lins na música "Confins" (Ivan Lins, Vitor Martins e Aldir Blanc), música tema da novela "Renascer", da Rede Globo, neste mesmo ano. O disco contou ainda com os músicos Ernie Watts, Jerry Goodman, Bororó e Maurício Maestro. Destaque para as faixas "N'kosi Sikelel'Afrika", de Enoch Sontonga, hino do Congresso Nacional Africano, e a faixa "So Bashiya Hlala Ba Ekhaya" (de Amandla), hino da Juventude Negra da África do Sul, no qual participou o sanfoneiro Sivuca. O disco foi relançado pelo selo americano Triloka e ocupou, segundo uma publicação americana especializada em world music, o 23ª lugar nas paradas de sucesso nos Estados Unidos. Entre os anos de 1993 e 1995 o grupo fez shows nos Estados Unidos, Argentina, Venezuela e em outros países. Entre os vários músicos que fizeram parte do grupo, destacam-se o violonista e compositor Claudio Jorge, o baixista Sizão Machado, o tecladista Itamar Assiere, o tecladista e cantor Jorjão Barreto, o percussionista Café, a cantora Suzana Bello, o percussionista Ovídio Brito, a cantora e percussionista Mart'nália e o contrabaixista Décio Crispim. Outras pessoas foram importantes no processo de formação e consolidação da estética do grupo, entre elas, Nei Lopes, que ajudou na escolha do nome Batacotô; Paulinho Albuquerque, que co-produziu os dois primeiros CDs; o letrista Vitor Martins; o desenhista e caricaturista Mello Menezes, Ivan Lins e o letrista Aldir Blanc. In its various configurations were part Giovana Moretti (oboe and leading voice), Amaury Machado (guitar and lead vocals), Dudu Carybé (guitar and cavaquinho), Nema Antunes (bass), Marco Brito (keyboards), Lollipop (percussion) and Jaguara (percussion). In the debut CD, "Batacotô" released by candles label in 1993, featured appearances by Dionne Warwick and Ivan Lins on the track "Chameleon" (Ivan Lins, Vitor Martins and Anja Blanc), with an English version of Jack Cousineau and Giba Ferreira. Another important contribution was to Gilberto Gil on the track "Quilombo" by Lenin. In the track "turned sand," Lenin and Braulio Tavares, the participation was of Lenin himself, with this song included in "Jazz Book," the official book of universities and music schools of America. Finally, the participation of Ivan Lins in "Confines" music (Ivan Lins, Vitor Martins and Anja Blanc), theme song of the novel "Rebirth", Rede Globo, in the same year. The album also featured Ernie Watts musicians, Jerry Goodman, Bororó and Mauricio Maestro. The album was re-released by the US label Triloka and occupied, according to an American publication specialized in world music, the 23rd place on the charts in the United States. Cid Moreira: jornalista, locutor e apresentador brasileiro em atividade desde 1947. Cid é famoso mundialmente por sua voz grave singular, a qual impõe a sensação de um eco aos espectadores. Cid começou na rádio Difusora de Taubaté, como contador. Como sua voz era muito bonita e grave, foi convidado para ser locutor. Narrou documentários para cinema, meio no qual também apresentou o noticiário semanal Canal 100 produzido por Carlos Niemeyer. Em 1955, atuou como ator no filme Angu de caroço, voltando ao cargo de narrador em 1958 no filme Traficantes do crime. Apresentou entre 1969 e 1996 o Jornal Nacional da Rede Globo de Televisão, sendo um recordista como um âncora que mais tempo esteve à frente de um mesmo telejornal. A estreia do Jornal Nacional em 1° de setembro de 1969 foi coapresentada com Hilton Gomes. Hoje, Cid narra matérias para o programa da Rede Globo Fantástico. Cid é célebre também pela gravação, feita em 2001, em áudio da Bíblia cristã na íntegra e em linguagem atual. Os CDs com sua locução alçaram um enorme sucesso de vendas, chegando hoje a 30 milhões de cópias. Aos 87 anos e 70 de carreira, Cid publicou o livro Boa Noite. O nome de sua biografia deve-se à sua frase "Boa Noite!", uma frase de suas mais famosas a qual sempre diz ao encerrar uma matéria. Em 24 de abril de 2015 apresentou um bloco do Jornal Nacional junto com Sérgio Chapelin como uma forma de homenagem da Globo aos dois jornalistas, que por muitos anos apresentaram o Jornal Nacional, na semana de aniversário de 50 anos da Rede Globo. Banda de thrash metal formada em 1984, em Belo Horizonte e mais popular nos Estados Unidos do que no Brasil, canta apenas em inglês. O primeiro disco, "Bestial Devastation", dividido com a também banda mineira Overdose, foi lançado em 1985 por um selo independente, seguido por "Morbid Visions" no ano seguinte. Com a entrada de Andreas Kisser na guitarra gravaram "Schizophrenia", que os projetou internacionalmente. No ano seguinte assinaram contrato com a gravadora americana Roadrunner e passaram a se dedicar a conquistar o mercado externo. "Beneath the Remains", lançado em 1989, foi aclamado pela crítica especializada e fez com que a banda se tornasse mais conhecida no Brasil e no resto do mundo, fora dos EUA. Em 1996 vieram ao Brasil pesquisar e gravar sons e ritmos das tribos indígenas para lançar "Roots". No mesmo ano, a saída do vocalista e líder Max Cavalera causou contratempos, pois a banda decidiu não se desfazer e teve que procurar um vocalista substituto, que acabou sendo Derrick Green, oficialmente parte da banda desde junho de 1998. "Against", lançado em 1998, foi o primeiro CD do grupo depois da saída do antigo vocalista. O álbum traz algumas experimentações interessantes, como a percussão do grupo japonês Kodo. Contudo, a obra reflete ainda um período conturbado para a banda. Talvez por isso, não tenha sido muito bem aceito pelos fãs e pela crítica especializada. Em 2002, sai o duplo ao vivo "Under a Pale Grey Sky". O disco é um registro de um dos shows da turnê do álbum "Roots", gravado em 1996, ainda com Max Cavalera nos vocais.
